Israel hits Rafah on Sunday, kills 31 people, injures 20

Rafah: On Sunday, Israel struck central Gaza to kill 31 people. Israeli troops moved in on the Gaza Strip's southern city of Rafah, where Hamas' last stronghold is, as per claims by the Israeli army. The attack on a central Nuseirat refugee camp also wounded 20 people, Agence France-Presse reported.

The latest strike and death in Gaza happened when US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan visited his Israel counterpart for talks on the war, Agence France-Presse reported.

In Rafah, where refugees from other parts of Gaza took shelter for months, the Israeli force's entry has displaced 8,00,000 people.

Israel also attacked areas in northern and central areas of Gaza after Hamas resurgent forces appeared there. These regions were considered so far as areas under the control of the Israeli army. The attacks on resurgent troops prompted the US to issue a warning that this could result in a lengthy counterinsurgency campaign.

After the Israeli military claimed that it had hit dozens of terror targets on the weekend day, AFP learnt that a residential complex was destroyed and bodies were trapped under the rubble.

After the October 7 attack by Hamas into Israeli territories killing around 1,200 Israeli citizens and taking around 250 hostages, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to unleash a massive offensive into Gaza until Hamas was defeated and the hostages were released.

However, his decision did not turn out well. The US, Israel's best ally, was against the genocide in Gaza. Also, the streets of Israel itself were occupied by its own citizens multiple times, protesting against Israel's offensive in Gaza.
