Houthi missile debris injures resident, damages prayer hall in Saudi Arabia’s Asir

Riyadh: A resident was injured and a prayer hall damaged after fragments of a Houthi ballistic missile fell in Saudi Arabia’s Asir region, the kingdom’s Civil Defence said on Saturday, October 3.

The missile, launched by the Houthi militia, was intercepted and destroyed before its debris fell in the Ahad Rafidah governorate. The falling fragments damaged a prayer hall inside a building and several vehicles parked nearby.

Images released by the Civil Defence showed metal fragments piercing the ceiling of the prayer hall and debris scattered over prayer rugs. Some vehicles sustained cracked sunroofs and dents to their bodywork.

The injured resident was given medical assistance, while Civil Defence teams inspected the damaged structures and carried out safety measures at the site.

In a separate incident, the Civil Defence said a projectile launched by the Houthis fell on a school in Najran, causing material damage. Authorities said the required procedures were carried out at the location.

The incidents come amid an escalation in Houthi missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi cities and key energy infrastructure, worsening tensions along the Saudi-Yemen border.

The Houthis also alleged that Saudi forces carried out 94 strikes on areas under their control in Yemen over the previous 24 hours. The group claimed that the total number of Saudi strikes since the renewed fighting began had reached 1,350.
