A fire broke out early Sunday morning at Saudi Aramco’s 400,000-barrel-per-day Jazan refinery in southwestern Saudi Arabia, with no injuries reported, according to the Saudi Energy Ministry.
Industrial firefighting teams extinguished the blaze, and authorities have launched standard procedures to manage the aftermath. While the ministry did not officially state the cause of the fire, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed responsibility on social media, asserting that Yemeni forces executed a precise drone strike on the Red Sea facility in retaliation for alleged Saudi airspace violations over Saada and Hajjah provinces.
The facility—a key hub producing gasoline and ultra-low-sulphur diesel near the Yemeni border—had previously experienced a shutdown on July 27 following earlier Houthi attacks targeting its power complex and tank farm. Despite ongoing regional security tensions and strikes across its infrastructure, Saudi Aramco CEO Amin Nasser affirmed that the company's total production, exports, and domestic fuel supply remain fully operational. Nasser highlighted that Aramco retains rapid-repair capabilities, maintaining daily west-coast crude exports of approximately five million barrels.
