Netizens were recently amused and baffled at the same time to see a video of giant, lifesize versions of Jacquemus handbags moving through the streets of Paris. The video was posted by the brand on Instagram as part of its promotional gimmick.
Jacquemus is a Parisian fashion label, founded by designer Simon Porte Jacquemus and is considered one of the trendiest brands in the industry.
The amusing video features giant versions of its prized Le Bambino bags on wheels.
“I think I like Paris now,” it wrote, alongside the video of super-sized bags zooming down the streets of Paris among other vehicles.
If you watch closely, you can see passengers inside the Jacquemus-branded trolleys and the words 'Bambino' and 'Jacquemus' are painted in yellow on the road next to the vehicles.
The video which got the people excited was later found to be a 3D-generated rendering. A representative of the brand told PopSugar that the clip is actually just a 3D-generated rendering and, you can’t ride on Jacquemus bags.
The comment section was soon flooded with people lauding this marketing gimmick. While one wrote, “I don’t know who is doing your marketing, but this team is super talented. Amazing work”.
“Obsessed with how your mind works”, wrote another.
“It has always been my dream to be run over by a huge Jacquemus handbag,” a user wrote, with another saying, “OMG!!!!! So creative! GENIUS.”
Jacquemus, is popular for its incredibly tiny Le Chiquito mini handbag. The brand opened a pop-up shop at Galeries Lafayette in Paris, featuring huge bucket hats, toasters with Jacquemus-branded toast, larger-than-life bags, and branded washing machines, among other items.
Simon is well known for his modern and minimalist aesthetic that combines classic French style with avant-garde design elements. The brand has gained recognition for its playful and unconventional designs, including asymmetrical dresses, exaggerated proportions, and unexpected cutouts.
