Lakshwadeep aims to develop world-class tourism

Lakshwadeep, the Indian tropical archipelago, aims to develop a world-class cruise tourism model similar to the ones in Maldives and Mauritius.

The initiative is a part of the plan to generate more employment opportunities and bring foreign exchange to the Union Territory.

A proposal regarding the introduction of cruise ships have already been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, and tourists can expect to enjoy the facility in a few years.

The Lakshwadeep islands, with their blue beaches, rich flora and fauna coupled with the absence of a rushed lifestyle, hold immense potential to become a world-class cruise destination.

The initiative will provide a luxurious travel experience and multitudes of possibilities to enjoy the islands. Tourists will be able to visit the different and unexplored destinations of the place on the cruise ships that vary from small yachts to mega-ships.

The tourism department is also planning to introduce a 48-hour long holiday package that is entirely or partly based on a cruise ship.

Lakshadweep has already developed eco-friendly resorts in its Minicoy, Kalpeni, Kavaratti, and Bangaram islands for tourists so that the fragile ecosystem and environment remain protected.
