NEET UG 2021 will be held on September 12, application starts tomorrow: Dharmendra Pradhan

NEET UG 2021 will be held on September 12 following Covid protocols, informed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday evening. Interested candidates can start applying from 5 pm on July 13, 2021 (tomorrow), on the NTA website.

"The NEET (UG) 2021 will be held on 12th September 2021 across the country following COVID-19 protocols. The application process will begin from 5 pm tomorrow through the NTA website(s)," Pradhan tweeted. He added that the number of cities where the exams shall be conducted has been increased from 155 to 198 to ensure that social distancing norms are followed. The number of exam centres has also been increased. In 2020, there were 3862 centres countrywide for the medical entrance examination.

Additionally, face masks would be provided to candidates at the centre. Staggered time slots during entry and exit, contactless registration, proper sanitisation, seating with social distancing etc. shall also be ensured, he added.

About 15 lakh aspirants appear for the exam every year. Despite the reduction in the board exam syllabus, the entrance tests would be held as per the syllabus determined by the NDA.
