Wayanad: A few weeks ago, Jenson told media that he would be with Shruthi till his last breath but he couldn’t keep his words.
To the 24-year-old Shruthi, who lost nine family members to the landside in Wayand, her fiancé Jenson was the last ray of hope.
Her childhood friend, Jenson, 27, died in a road accident, leaving her to look helplessly at the bleak future.
When a huge chunk of hill slipped down and ran over houses in Meppadi on July 30, Shruthi lost her parents Sabitha and Shivanna and younger sister Shreya.
Her mother Sabitha’s body was among those victims whose bodies couldn’t initially be recognized until a DNA test was taken.
On September 9, authorities informed Shruthi that her mother’s body had been identified in the test.
The following day, Shruthi and Jenson went to Puthumala, paying respects to Shruthi’s mother.
Tragedy struck her once again when the bus they were traveling to Kozhikode met with an accident.
Jenson, who sustained severe injuries, was put on ventilator support and succumbed to injuries on the night of September 11.
The couple belonging to different faiths got engaged, and their marriage was planned for December.
Talking to media earlier, Jenson said he would be with Shruthi till his last breath, adding that he will always hold her to his heart.
‘Our dream is a house and a job for Shruthi. After my death, she should not be left alone,’ he was quoted as saying.
