Sivamani enthralls passengers at Kochi airport with ‘Humma-Humma'

Kochi: Renowned percussionist Sivamani gave a musical treat to passengers at Kochi Airport on Wednesday literarily taking them by surprise with his virtuosity.

The passengers were waiting for their luggage on the conveyor belt with no sign of them arriving even after 40 minutes passed when the musician stepped in to dispel their boredom.

That's when the 64-year-old musician, who happened to be a passenger on the flight, entertained passengers with his music.

He beat out AR Rahman's 'Humma Humma’ with his drumsticks on the railings of the conveyor belt, regaling fellow passengers.

One passenger has taken the refreshing moments to the micro-blogging platform.

‘It's been 40 minutes since we landed at Kochi airport and we are still waiting for our bags to come out. Instead of getting agitated, we are getting entertained by a fellow passenger,’ Sheetal Mehta wrote on X.

Many on social media praised the artist for turning what was otherwise boredom into a memorable experience for his co-passengers.

One person on X pointed out that ‘That’s not just any fellow passenger. That's the Legendary percussionist Sivamani sir.. lucky you guys get a live performance from him for free and it's humble of him that he didn't throw any VIP tantrum of his own.’

Another user who identified the musician was happy to have the luggage delayed as it offered a rare opportunity, adding that ‘More power to him as we need more such public places.’

Sivamani, the Padma Shri winning musician known by his stage name Drums Sivamani, plays multiple instruments including drums, octoban, darbuka, udukai, ghatam and kanjira.
