Police in Kerala blame "vaastu" for high crime rates, replace iron poles in stations

Having been hit by several murders and rising crime rates, the local police here turned to vaastu shastra for protection against evil eyes and to spread positive energy.

The police removed asbestos sheets from the front yard of the police station and reinstalled them on the advice of a vaastu expert.

Yet, despite shifting the iron poles, another major murder
occurred within the police station.
Between December 5 and March, four murder cases took place within the Cherpu police station.

The rising crime level here considerably increased the mental stress of police officials.

Some of the officers decided to take refuge in a vaastu expert to seek relief from the current situation.

The Cherpu police station was
plagued with murders and thefts about 15 years ago. To address the problem, police officials turned to an astrologer for help.
Upon his advice, cops cut back the branches of a Champak (Chembakam) tree that had outgrown the police station.
