Thiruvananthapuram: Actor and producer Vijay Babu, who has been accused of sexual assault by an actor in Kochi, was arrested on Monday, when he turned himself in at Ernakulum South police for questioning.
Babu was granted anticipatory bail on June 22 after being booked for sexually abusing an actor.
At the time of granting the bail, the Kerala HC reportedly asked him not to leave the state and submit his passport.
He is arrested one day after Malayalam actors' guild AMMA supported him saying it was waiting for court's judgment before acting against Babu.
The investigation team was permitted to quiz him beginning on Monday till July 3 from 9 am to 6pm.
The female actor complained that Babu had allegedly assaulted her in a flat in Kochi multiple times on the pretext of offering movie roles.
Just as the complaint emerged, Babu fled the state after revealing the identity of the survivor on a Facebook live, and returned to the state earlier this month.
Revealing the actor's identity, Bubu on Facebook live said he was the real victim and will face the consequence of revealing the complainant.
There were calls for Babu to step down from the executive committee of AMMA but a spokesperson for the actors' ogranisation said it was waiting for the court order.
