Kerala’s ‘Mosque Man’ G. Gopalakrishnan dies at 90

Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned Kerala architect G. Gopalakrishnan, popularly known as the ‘Mosque Man’, died at the age of 90. He designed several prominent places of worship in Kerala and other parts of the country and led the construction of more than 100 mosques.

Gopalakrishnan was associated with the construction of several prominent places of worship, including Beemapally and Palayam Juma Masjid in Thiruvananthapuram. He also supervised the restoration of the Vavar Mosque at Erumeli, regarded as a symbol of religious harmony.

Besides architecture, Gopalakrishnan also made a mark in literature. He authored the notable book ‘Njan Kanda Quran’ (The Quran I Saw), which was based on religious studies and received considerable attention and appreciation.

The funeral will be held at Shanthikavadam in Thiruvananthapuram at noon on Thursday.
