Kerala voters can still update details after Jan 30 deadline

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala voters will have continued opportunities to correct or update their electoral details even after the January 30 deadline for the 2026 Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, state Chief Electoral Officer Ratan U Kelkar announced on Friday.

Between December 23, 2025—when the draft voters' list was published—and January 30, 2026, officials received a wide range of applications. These included Form 6 for new resident voters seeking addition to the rolls, Form 6A for overseas Indian citizens, Form 8 for corrections or address changes, and Form 7 for deletions.

Kelkar clarified that all submitted objections, complaints, and applications during this window will undergo the prescribed verification process. The final electoral roll, incorporating approved changes, is set for publication on February 21.

Applications received after January 30 will still be accepted but processed only after the final list is released. Eligible voters from these late submissions will be added via supplementary lists in subsequent updates, arranged chronologically under Election Commission of India rules. They will receive serial numbers immediately following the last entry in the final roll, with deletions and corrections handled per existing guidelines.
