Kerala to open all watering holes, clubs

Thiruvananthapuram: Nothing will make tipplers here happier than returning to their favourite drinking places.

The state government has cleared the Excise Department's proposal to reopen bars, clubs and liquor shops.

An order from the Chief Secretary on Monday night has allowed clubs, beer and wine parlours, and toddy shops to work.

However, state-run KSBC's retail outlets will be open until 9 p.m.

More than 500 bars in the state's private sector have been closed down since late March following outbreak of the pandemic.

An earlier bid to open the bars in September skipped after a sudden spike in Covid cases.
