Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police unrolled its 'Operation Aag' and arrested 113 people who were accused in various criminal cases, Asian News International reported.
Raids were conducted on Sunday night, primarily to nab those who were charged under Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (Kaapa), and the arrests were made, Thiruvananthapuram Commissioner of Police CH Nagaraj informed.
Nagaraj said that 'Operation Aag' was a 360-degree action against anti-social elements. The police will collect their details, including biometrics, the latest photos, associates, vehicles and family. The key plan is to collect data and strengthen the evidence against the arrestees, the commissioner said.
He continued that the police conducted a surprise raid on Sunday night all over the Thiruvananthapuram district and detained around 113 individuals. They included people wanted in various hard cases and also warrant execution trial people who are also wanted in many cases, he said.
The commissioner then talked about various initiatives to improve law and order in the state after he was asked the same by reporters.
He said that 'Pink Patrol', specifically for women's safety, will do night patrolling. There will be surprise vehicle checking, and 'Mufti' police (cops in civilian clothes) will also be deployed. Further data on repeated sexual offenders are gathered, and they will be monitored, the commissioner said.
Kerala Police is going to initiate "Prasanthi "for senior citizens, categorising them into A, B and C. "An able-bodied senior citizen, B bedridden and C concerned category who might need some help. MSW volunteers and 'Janamithri' police will look after them," ANI quoted the officer.
