Kochi: Kerala Bar Council has written a letter to the High Court Chief Justice informing the decision to boycott the upcoming e-lok Adalat organised by the Kerala Legal Services Authority (KELSA). In the letter, the lawyers stated that they are irritated by the "apathy" towards the lawyers.
The lawyers cited the "arbitrary functioning" of KELSA, which allegedly takes decisions without consulting the Bar. It also pointed to the decision taken to organise an e-Lok Adalat in the state without consulting the Bar.
The letter also conveyed the discontent of the lawyers with respect to the rules made by the High Court, without consultation, for professional fees that could be collected for Motor Accident Claim representation.
The communication sent to the Chief Justice also alleged that lawyers are facing a demeaning and degrading attitude at the hands of certain judicial officers towards lawyers,
It stated that nothing has been done to take action against such errant officers despite the oral assurances from the High Court's Administrative Committee.
