IUML reforms Haritha retaining only one member from previous committee

Kozhikode: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has formed its new committee of Haritha, women's wing of its students' organisation Muslim Students Federation (MSF) in Kerala, Manorama News reported.

Interestingly, PH Aysha Banu, the only member from the previous committee to not sign Haritha's complaint to the State Women's Commission against sexual harassment has been named president of the new committee. She was the treasurer in the last committee.

The new committee has nine leaders, including a general secretary, three vice presidents, three secretaries and a treasurer.

The previous committee of Haritha has dissolved three days ago, citing repeated actions of "indiscipline".

A month ago, the leaders of Haritha had gone public against MSF leaders alleging sexual harassment. After which, they moved their complaint before CWC against MSF leaders for using vulgar language and oppression.

Allegations were levelled against MSF president PK Navas and Malappuram district general secretary V Abdul Vahab. Chemmangad police arrested Navas based on a complaint Haritha lodged at Veyyayil police station.

In the complaint, Haritha alleged that Navas called its members "infertile feminists" during a meeting. When Haritha members expressed their opinions, Navas allegedly said that even prostitutes have opinions so, they might have too.

Haritha members had said that they had gone public since IUML ceased to initiate any actions against the MSF leaders. Following that, the Haritha was dissolved.
