Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 6,591 more persons tested coronavirus positive in Kerala on Tuesday after 53,901 more samples were tested in the past 24 hours, taking the state's active cases to 91,922.
Health Minister KK Shailaja said that 7,375 more patients tested negative, taking the recoveries to 2,60,243. It was one of the rare days when Kerala saw more recoveries than new cases.
In all, 24 more fatalities took the state's total COVID death toll to 1,206.
In recent days, there has been a sudden reduction in new cases in the state capital. It reported 470 new cases, down from over 1,000 cases in the past week.
Across the state, 2,82,219 persons are kept under observation at various places, including 23,472 in hospitals. The state now has 628 coronavirus hotspots.
