Thiruvananthapuram: Thirty percent of students in government colleges have no required gadgets to join online learning tutorials, says a survey by Department of college education.
The survey was done ahead of the online classes starting from June 1.
The data of students with internet, laptop, and smartphones at their disposal are gathered.
Alongside the number of students with cable/DTH connection and radio are also collected.
Classes will be started from June for 36,000 students of graduation in third and fifth semester.
A lot of students used the smartphones of their parents for collecting information regarding online learning.
When the parents leave for works, they will not be able to attend classes.
A large number of students have to get along with week internet connectivity. A lot of student cannot afford the daily cost of internet connection.
The survey, however, didn’t consider these aspects.
The government directs self-financing colleges to figure out how to conduct classes on their own.
The government suggested the platforms including Google class room, and Google meet.
Alongside the government has plans to offer 3 hours class on vikters channeal.
