Influx of people to be a challenge to COVID-19 prevention

Thodupuzha:  Police special branch has reported that the relaxation given to lockdown at the border to ensure the transportation of goods could pose greater challenge to COVID-19 prevention.

As Tamil Nadu is reporting sharp spike in COVID-19 cases, the relaxation is so flaccid that allows entry of trucks to Kerala without proper checking.

The strict screening at Marayoor Chinnar together by police, health and revenue departments has been withdrawn the other day.

Checking at Karimutti check post, despite officials in charge, has reduced to jotting down addresses.

Previously trucks were flagged down at check posts before shifting their goods to trucks from Kerala as part of stopping contact spread of COVID-19.

After migrant workers began reaching the state via Kumali, freight movement has been restricted to Marayoor route.

It was then in part due to fall in COVID cases in the state including Idduki, and problems in freight movement, checking was called off.
