Thirunavanthapuram: The government on Wednesday announced 52 days long trawling ban from might night June 9.
The minister J Mercykutty Amma informed of the same over video conference with outfits of fishermen as well as officials.
Twenty private boats will be hired during trawling ban for coastal security and patrolling.
Those previously trained 80 young fishermen would be deployed for rescue operations.
During the trawl ban petrol bunks at harbours and landing areas would be closed.
The service of marine ambulance will be available during June and July.
Only 30 people will be allowed in boats with the capacity for 50.
A carrier canoe with five seating capacity will accompany the boat.
Boats from other states ought to leave harbour for their states before 9 pm on June 9.
The heavy fishing nets weighing about 1800 kg, which are currently in use, have to be replaced with lighter ones.
Fishermen must take care against using heavy duty engines in canoes with fewer fishermen and lighter fishing nets.
The price control facilities at the harbours will continue to be in effect.
