Local body polls pose challenge before all fronts

Thiruvanathapuram:  Upcoming local body polls could prove to be a challenge to both fronts.

LDF has upper hand, because of the Chief Minister’s widely lauded handling of COVID-19 situation.

Also, the fronts banks on community kitchen, essential commodity distribution, and financial help through welfare board.

LDF slipped on both Sprinklr and salary challenge controversies.

However, it pins on the favourable consolation from the court at the time.

The front is organizationally ahead including in preparing voters list.

But opposition to salary challenge from outfits favouring the government is an issue.

The hardship faced by returnees at the borders could have reversals.

The major challenges include rehabilitation of Diaspora, unemployment, and the state’s financial situation.

UDF faces challenges from having no organizational preparedness for the polls, booth committees have not yet been turned into ward committees, KPCC members haven’t been given any district responsibilities yet.

The front fell behind in running the community kitchen despite ruling local bodies.

I Group has the feeling that the Opposition leader failed to pilot the Sprinklr controversy.

The Congress is discussing its leadership failure in protecting five MLAs who intervened in Valayar check post issue.

BJP has to answer its inability to intervene in the case of Diaspora in spite of being in power at the Centre.

BJP president’s open support to the government forfeited anti-incumbency votes, many say.
