No govt orders yet to charge for quarantine; HC quashes plea

Kochi: Kerala High Court dismissed all pleas seeking quarantine facilities for returning expatriates on gratis basis as it observed that no government order has stipulated charges for the same.  A division bench of the High Court comprising justices S. Manikumar and Shaji P. Chali observed that the pleas submitted in the court are premature as the government has not issued any such order so far.

However, if the government issues an order stipulating fees for quarantine facilities, the petitioners will be free to question it.

Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre member Ibrahim Elettil, and Reji Thazhman, former vice president of Overseas Indian Cultural Congress among others had submitted the plea.

The court took note of the government submission  that no order has been issued levying the expatriates for quarantine facilities.
