Kerala reports 75 COVID-19 cases, tally now 2,696

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 75 positivecases on Wednesday, taking the COVID-19 infection tallyto 2,696, but in some relief for the state, 90 people have recovered from the disease on Wednesday.

Of the positive cases, 53 have come from abroad and 19 from other states, while three have been infected through contact,Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters here.

Presently, 1,357 people are under treatment and 1.25 lakh people are under observation,he said.

At least 277 Keralites have succumbed to COVID-19 abroad and deaths of Malayalees have been reported from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, where the infection load is very high, the chief minister said.

Today, a Malayalee nurse lost her life in Delhi, Vijayan said.

Kollam reported the highest number of infections with 14 positive cases today, followed by Malappuram 11, Kasaragod nine, Thrissur eight, Palakaad six, Kozhikode six, Ernakulam five, Thiruvananthapuram three, Kottayam four, Kannur four, Wayanad three and Pathnamthitta and Alappuzha one each.

There are 110 hotspots.
