Thiruvananthapuruam: As UDF is planning no-confidence motion, the government is mulling over holding the assembly session through the month for passing the finance bill.
Though no-confidence motion is aimed at both the government and the speaker, one of them will be targeted first.
Opposition leader will move the no-confidence motion after discussing the same with leaders of the alliance.
Although there is hardly any hope for getting the motion passed, it could help UDF raise the gold smuggling case once again, thus getting it in the Assembly documents.
As well as strengthening UDF’s struggles against the government, this could help the front winning political mileage, if it is able to expose the smugglers’ alleged link to the Chief Ministers office.
UDF meeting held on Monday had different opinions over prioritizing the two of the motions.
At length, the meeting entrusted the opposition leader to take appropriate decision considering the technicalities involved in it.
The meeting decided to expose the chief minister’s claim that he had no knowledge of the appointment of Swapna at the Space Park.
Chief Minister cannot shy away from the responsibility as he is the chairman of the institution where Swapna was appointed.
She is not even a graduate. Given this, opposition will demand a probe into appointments made by M Sivasankar .
The meeting also decided to maintain COVID protocol during the agitations against the government.
