Police indifferent to threats on our lives: Bindu Ammini

Thrissur: Bindu Ammini, one of the two women who scaled Sabarimala last festival season, blames police for not providing security to visit the temple, despite Supreme Court’s direction for the same.

She approached SC twice gaining order for police protection, perceiving threat against her life.

She quoted reliable sources as saying that either Kanaka Durga or she would be killed.  Being a regular traveler, Ammini believes she is the prime target of Sangh Parivar. She blamed conspiracy behind not providing security.

Bindu Ammini announced another trip to Sabarimala with hundred women on the anniversary of the first jaunt on January 2.

However, she backed away from the trip having been denied police protection.

Following Sabarimala visit last year, they lived nearly incognito to avoid attacks, and only the police protection brought them back to normal life, she said.

During the floods she handed a letter to GDP requesting to revoke police protection citing that the fact that people had no security to their lives and property. Afterwards, police withdrew protection.

Following the chemical spray attack on her, Bindu Ammini approached Kozhikode Rural SP vainly, subsequently moved the Supreme Court.

In response to the Supreme Court order, police offered protection; however blocked her travels citing security issues.

Though she asked for security well ahead of a trip to Delhi, police withdrew security the day before citing that she had no train reservation.

She blamed that police know she could be killed and withdrew security to avoid the slur of her being killed in police security.
