MBBS Fee: HC slams fee committee

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Thursday came down heavily on the Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee responsible for refixing fee structure of MBBS courses.

The committee invited court’s criticism for not refixing the fee structure of MBBS courses in self-financing medical colleges for academic years 2016-17,2017-18,2018-19.

The committee had earlier put the tuition fee at ₹4.15 lakh a student for 2016-17 academic year, ₹4.80 lakh for 2017-18 and ₹ 5.54 lakh for 2018-19.

Setting aside the committee’s order after the managements challenged this fee structure, the court directed the committee for reconsideration.

The managements pointed out in their petition that committee had confirmed its earlier fee structure, although the matter was remitted to the committee.
