Thiruvananthapuram: The on-going probe into the missing bullet case could be extended to top ranks in police including CI, DYSP.
The Crime Branch team probing the case will quiz officials who worked at SAP camp in Perurkada during the time when the bullets had gone missing.
Crime Branch also decided to audit the total loss of bullet in a similar vein of auditing guns. CAG had found 12,061 bullets as missing.
Police had arrested Officer Reji Balachandran Thursday on charges of producing fake bullet cases.
Sleuths are of the view that a havildar could not have done it alone. Bullets had started missing in several phases in 22 years between 1996 and 2018.
The arrest was in connection with the incident in 2014. Thus, the volume of incident can’t be reduced to one or two officials, the probe team believes.
The emblem made from melting bullets was affixed on the podium in the chamber of the senior most official at the camp.
The incident might not have happened without the knowledge of top officials.
