Cops getting grilled in the missing bullet case

Thiruvananthapuram: Sleuths from Crime Branch started quizzing officials over missing of the bullets as described in CAG report.

Crime Branch as much as confirmed fake bullets stored in lieu of the missing original ones.

Meanwhile, fakes shells and logo made of metal, confiscated the other day from SIP, have been handed over to the court.

They will be sent to forensic examination immediately. It is assumed that the log was made from melted bullet.

DYSP  P Anil Kumar questioned two havildars following the finding of fake bullet shells.  They were in charge of guarding of bullets in 2014.

The Crime Branch sources also said that the duo are also charged in the missing of bullets case by Perurkada police.

It was in 2014 that fake shells of bullets had been placed in lieu of the original ones.  Although the government received information regarding this, no action had been taken.

Even after the new government came in power, the situation remained the same.

Eventually, SAP Commander filed a complaint at Perurkada police last year.  Although the Crime Branch was tasked to probe, nothing much happened.

When CAG report mentioned the missing bullets, the Crime Branch began the probe.
