Order issued to link land registrations with Aadhar

Thiruvananthapuram: The Revenue Principal Secretary Dr. V. Venu has issued an order permitting the linking of land registrations in the state with Aadhaar Card. The names of land owners will be recorded in the software as part of implementing Unique Thandaper Number based on Aadhar.

The order was issued following a recommendation of Land Revenue Commissioner who had sought permission to link Aadhaar numbers with the land registration by all citizens.

The number of people holding more than 15 acres of land is increasing despite the state fixing a land ownership ceiling. The offices of sub-registar or village officer are not scrutinising this. There are people who buy land with an area of 14.50 acres in each district. As such, it is not easy to assess the total area of land possessed by these people in different districts.

Even if the tax is paid, people who transgressed the land limit cannot be identified. It is in this background that Land Revenue Commissioner recommended the new method.
