Sprinklr controversy: Centre asks the state for details of the deal

Kochi:  The Centre on Thursday sought clarification from the state on the Sprinlr controversy.

The controversy, surrounding the agreement with US-based tech firm Sprinklr for collecting the data of suspected and positive COVID-19 patients, caught the state unawares.

The state IT Secretary M Sivasankar confirmed the receipt of the letter from the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, seeking to furnish the details of the agreement.

The details sought could include collection and analysis of data on persons categorised as vulnerable and potentially exposed to COVID-19.

The state government is alleged to have entered into a contract with Sprinklr without the Law Department’s nod.

The Centre may well want to know if the state has followed the norms prescribed for such contracts.

The state IT Secretary M Sivasankar is reportedly conveyed that decisions have been taken according to norms.

Meanwhile, the Centre on Thursday informed the High Court it could provide all facilities offered by Sprinklr with the support of NIC, if a request comes from Kerala Government.
