Fewer COVID-19 cases: Kerala lets its hair down a bit

Thiruvanathapuram:  Updates on COVID-19 spread on Sunday showed a curve in infections, helping the state let off steam first in weeks.

Thirty six recovered patients walked out from various hospitals on Sunday; however only two people tested positive for COVID-19, the lowest in two weeks.

District wise tally showed 28 recoveries in Kasaragod, 6 in Malappuram, and 3 in Idduki, taking the total recoveries to 179 so far.

In the past six days 120 patients including foreigners tested negative for COVID-19.

Also, the total people under surveillance came down to 1.17 lakhs from 1.60 lakhs, crossing out average 7000 to 8000 people each day.

On Sunday one person each in Kannur and Pathanamthitta tested positive for COVID-19, taking the tally to 194.

The patient in Kannur returned from Dubai and the other person came from Sharjah.  Where 816 people are being observed in hospitals, more than one lakh others are home-quarantined.
