Maradu: power, water to be cut off tomorrow

Kochi:  Leaving no room for misgivings, Maradu Municipal authorities on Wednesday served notices regarding snapping of utility services to residents of illegal apartments.

Authorities have hastened procedures for demolition of flats to be implemented by October 4.

Meanwhile, reports say that most of the lease-holders have vacated their flats; however, owners would continue to stay until the last moment.

Both electricity and water would supply would be disconnected by Friday.

The flat owners have chosen to stay and “fight to the last breath”, making it difficult for authorities to peacefully settle the issue.

The Maradu Bhavana Samrakshana Samiti made a call to the owners abroad to join the protest.

The KSEBL authorizes turned up with police protection, to serve notices to the flat owners informing them that the service would be stopped in the next 24 hours.
