Shift SR Medical students to other colleges: Vigilance

Thiruvananthapuram:  The Vigilance and Anti-corruption Bureau recommended the government to shift students of Varkala SR  Medical College to other medical colleges.

They should be allowed to pursue education in colleges with better facilities.  Acting on the students’ complaint to Chief Minister, the special team has submitted its report, recommending criminal procedures against the medical college.

From failing to arrange specific facilities to bring in fake patients to impress the inspector of Medical Council of India’s (MCI), the SR Medical College is in the dock now.

The vigilance team has found serious lapses on the part of the medical college including forging fake building permit of the panchayat, among others.

In the complaint filed by Panchayat secretary regarding fake permit, the police has not submitted charge sheet, but chose to term it as lacking evidence.

The Vigilance also recommend the government to continue investigation in the case registered against the chairman of the college.
