Kozhikode: Relatives of Thaha and Alan, who have been charged with UPA, call into question the evidences that police released.
Police released evidence to the media without first submitting the same to the court as they are framed.
Thaha’s relatives said that the police accused him of having Maoist links citing photo of him participating in a public event.
Alan’s father Shuhaib said the same after visiting his son in prison.
He said that the investigating officers reaching his home asked him to sign a half blank paper; at his insistence police crossed the blank area.
They came with papers already mentioning the case as UPA imposed. They brought him home handcuffed.
Although police didn’t beat up Alan, Thaha had been beaten, Alan told his father.
Shuhaib said quoting his son, “ They didn’t recover any materials from me. Fatehr you now me. I am a CPM activist. I am innocent. That is why the party is behind me. I know the consequences of UPA, I am a law student.”
The video of raid at Thaha’s house released by police had put them on the defensive.
The books seized during the raid were not banned or in favour of Maoists. Following this, police released a photo of Alan participating at a public event.
