Governor summons Kerala University vice-chancellor

Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Monday summoned Kerala University vice-chancellor V P Mahadevan Pillai in the wake of the scandal involving illegal augmentation marks of university exams from 2016 to 2019.

The vice-chancellor reportedly apprised the Governor of the steps the University has taken following an internal inquiry; departmental action has been initiated against the varsity staff involved and further action would be taken after an internal probe, he said.

Pillai told the governor that a probe by the Crime Branch has been requested as the mark scam had suspected external influence.

Kerala University has been in the eye of a storm since it came to light the illegal augmentation of marks taken place at the Examination Section of the varsity.
