Thiruvananthapuram: While CPM politburo openly talks lefts politics as regards imposing UAPA on two party workers in Kozhikode, the state unit talks about technical aspects of the case.
In the wake of expulsion of these workers from the party, the upcoming politburo meet-up on November 16,17 would be crucial.
CPM secretary Sitaram Yechuri responded that the politburo apprised the government of the displeasure over the UIPA charge.
Former secretary Prakash Karat also expressed reservation about the issue
Left parties including CPM is against imposing horrendous laws like UAPA. The left, both in and out of the parliament, vociferously questioned misusing the law against innocents and minorities.
However, misuse of this law by the CPM-led government has landed the party in trouble at national level.
Most of the party leaders at the Centre are against imposing the law for the possession of some pamphlets.
But the state leadership maintains that no state can refrain from implementing the law.
The state leadership is of the view that the government could not shy away from the law passed by the parliament.
