NH development: Isaac hits out at Pillai

Thiruvananthapuram: After the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) decided to halt land acquisition for NH development in Kerala, Finance Minister Thomas Isaac accused BJP state president PS Sreedharan Pillai of sabotaging NH development in the state.

Isaac released a letter from Pilai to Union Minister Gadkari seeking to put on hold land acquisition. In his facebook post, Isaac said that Pillai was trying to sabotage Kerala’s future development.

He also alleged that NHAI was trying not to make NH development a reality during this government’s tenure, and Pillai became a tool for this intent.

The state government, according to him, has been going ahead to complete the project by 2020. While  Oomen Chandy government abandoned the NH project especially over land acquisition, Pinarayi Vijayan government addressed these issues.

Denying Isaac’s charges, Pillai said that he was only forwarding a memorandum received from the National Highway Action Committee requesting necessary action from the Centre.
