UDF will bring in law to protect Sabarimala customs: Chennithala

Thiruvananthapuram: UDF in Kerala said on Monday it would frame a new law to protect customs at Sabarimala after coming to power.

After its landslide victory in the LS Polls, UDF looks forward to the next assembly elections in 2021.

The front sees opportunity in the troubled issue as it could trammel the saffron forces from taking advantage of the issue.

The move according to observers is a preemptive attempt at checking the BJP’s plan to exploit the temple issue.

UDF wouldn’t want BJP to make inroads into Kerala in the event of communist parties slim further.

Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said that by stirring up the temple issue LDF only helped BJP.

Demanding CM Pinarayi Vijayan to quit following the LDF rout, Chennithala said LDF came up second in 120 assembly constituencies, and in some the front is at the third position.

Vijayan responded to Chennithala saying that it was not assembly but LS polls.
