Congress to field P J Joseph from Idukki

Thodupuzha: As the KC (M) is grappling with inflight, UDF leaders are mulling ways to tame P J Joseph who has fallen out with his party over seat dispute.

One plausible vent for heat the UDF leadership has found is fielding Joseph as an independent candidate from Idukki.

Leaders were busy through yesterday discussing with coalition partners including Muslim League to hammer out a deal.

Insiders say K M Mani has loosened muscles agreeing to the new rapprochement plan.

Congress leaders will make a beeline to Rahul Gandhi to discuss the matter.

It has belatedly dawned on UDF that an aggrieved Joseph could mean backlash in Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Kottayam seats.

Another idea hovered over conciliatory discussion was retrieving Kottayam seat from K M Mani.

However, UDF camp knew only too well that nothing could provoke K M Mani more.

Fielding P J Joseph as an independent candidate from Idukki is just as well a quick-fix to pacify both KC ( M) chieftains.

This no zero-sum deal could bring both leaders together at campaign trail.
