Peerumedu Raj Kumar death: Custodial torture confirmed

Idukki: The autopsy report on Rajkumar, who was arrested having involved in a financial fraud, and died in Peerdumedu sub-jail, reportedly confirms another disturbing case of death following custodial torture.

Stranding the police to answer, the autopsy report detailed that Raj Kumar’s ribs were broken and legs had injuries.

He died, the report said, of pneumonia resulting from internal injuries, leaving the police on a spot.

The report flies in the face of police’s claim that Raj kumar sustained injuries after having been busted following a chase.

Further on the same vein, witness Alice Jacob reportedly said when locals caught hold of Rajkumar and handed over to the police, he was in good condition.

The statements by the doctors at the Nedumkandam taluk hospital who had examined Rajkumar refute the claim by the police.

Rajkumar is accused in a case of swindling several lakhs of rupees in the name of a private finance company here in Nedumkandam.
