UDF fails to patch up between Kerala Congress (M) factions

Thiruvananthapuram:   UDF move to unite two factions of Kerala Congress-M has borne no fruit. Both the factions made it clear that no compromise can be made in the claim for the post of party charimanship.

Though both Joseph and Joseph K. Mani factions say that they are ready for a consensus,  coming to the brasstacks, they are not ready to give in on  party chairmanship. Also, both the factions have publicly declared their stance.

Joseph says that the parliamentary party leader's post was not a token of benevolence;  his rivals had to acknowledge his faction's strength.

Meanwhile, Jose K. Mani is stern that Joseph faction cannot claim chairmanship as they have been given parliamentary party leadership.

As the split happened,  both the factions are trying to keep their flocks together.   They have intensified their efforts to form alternative committees in place of those which have broken off from the party.

Though Jose K Mani was declared chairman after convening a state committee,  the Munsiff Court has stayed the proceedins.  Jose K Mani is exploring legal means to evade the hurdle.  Joseph faction is keenly watching the developments of the case.  They are preparing to convene a state committee at the earliest in the event of a court order in favour of them. At such a forum, CF Thomas MLA will be made party chairman.   Joseph faction believes that such a move will weaken their rivals further.
