Government to take final decision on cartoon row

Thiruvananthapuram:  The government will take the final decision on the controversial Cartoon award, according to the Minister of Cultural Affairs, AK Balan.

Talking to reporters here, Balan said Akademi should not have announced the outcome of its review meeting. It should have informed the government of the details of the reviewing meeting.

Meanwhile the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi decided not to revoke the cartoon award.

The government is the final authority for taking policy decisions on all government-controlled institutions, he said.
