6.8 per cent hike in power tariff for domestic consumers

Thiruvananthapuram: Power tariff for domestic use goes dearer in the state by 6.8 per cent, announced the Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission on Monday.

Not an unexpected upward revise, the hike in tariff will come into effect from July 8 for a period of three years from 2019 to 2022.

The hike is 40 paise per unit; however, consumer will have to pay Rs 5 more for the monthly consumption of 50 units.

For every unit, transcending the aforesaid limit, there will be an increase of Rs 30 paise. 

Those in BPL category as well as consumers with monthly consumption of 40 units are exempted from the hike.
