Kozhikode: Just as seat-sharing discussions are underway in NDA, the State BJP leadership is concerned about cross-voting by BDJS.
A cabal of leaders in BJP believes in the likelihood of BDJS cross-voting in the upcoming LS polls.
Leaders shared their apprehensions about BDJS cross-voting by fielding weak candidates in major seats that they have demanded.
BDJS demanded eight seats in the seat identifying discussions. Although four seats have been confirmed for BDJS, BJP leadership remains still unconvinced about BDJS’ stance.
A section in the leadership believes that BDJS cross-voted in the Chenganur by-election.
BJP is dreadful of cross-voting in hopeful seats like Kollam, Attingal, and Alapuzha. This could be why BJP denied the Ezahava-bastion Attingal to BJDS.
The decision was not without gumption because candidates of both LDF and UDF are in good terms with SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan.
Although the core-committee decided to allocate Alappuzha to BDJS, BJP would insist on fielding Thushar Vellapally. As for other seats too, BJP would put forward some conditions.
Alongside, what troubles BJP most is Vellapally’s anti-BJDS stance since the woman’s wall.
