Latin Catholic council protests anomalies in KSA norms

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Region Latin Catholic Council held a sit-in protest on Wednesday at Secretariat alleging denial of reservation, and submitted an appeal to Chief Minister pointing out injustice.

Their submission highlighted how latest KSA directives issued for appointment of new cadre deny rights ensured by constitution to scheduled—backward communities.

While 150 vacancies are filled in new cadre, as per norms 50 percent (75) seats should be reserved for backward sections.

Whereas the new directives allow only 25 percent of 150 seats in reservation, thus forfeiting 25 percent seats of backward sections.

This in effect undermines the concept of reservation enshrined in the constitution, the submission said.
