Exempt schools from shutdowns: students appeal

Thiruvanthapuram: Perhaps for the first time since freakish shutdowns and strikes became a norm in Kerala, students voiced their concerns about loss of valuable school time.

A snatch of students from schools across the capital district participating a press conference demanded that schools be spared from shutdowns in a similar vein of essential commodities like milk, newspaper and hospital.

Representing United School Forum, they said only 145 days out of 220 academic working days functioned this year, and the remaining days would clock up  to only 185 days.

The syllabus designed for 220 days might remain uncovered.  How could topics be taught without having classes? They asked. As a step forward, students will give an appeal to governor P. Sathasivam
