FICCI Kerala support Hartal Regulation Bill; will dissociate with pro-hartal bodies

Kochi:   A meeting of investors and traders convened by the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (FICCI) Kerala council has said that it will reconsider the co-operation with parties that conduct hartals.

The meeting reminded the state government that unless the Hartal Regulation Bill is introduced and passed by the Assembly,  and hartals end as a result,  there will not be an atmosphere conducive for commercial and industrial investment in the state.

The meet in Kochi on Monday also discussed the challenges posed by trade unions in the trouble-free functioning of industries in the state.

The meeting also resolved to support the legal battle against hartal, and to go to any extent in that respect.

The chamber decided to start campaigns against hartals, which threaten business community and the investment opportunities of Kerala. Business organizations will take further action to create awareness in society against hartals through meetings and campaign programmes.

The organization will try to bring all political parties to a common platform and onvince them on the necessity to avoid hartals.
