M K Raghavan in troubled waters

Kozhikode: MK Raghavan, the third-time choice of UDF for Kozhikode constituency, finds himself neck deep in troubles following his alleged seeking of 5 crore caught on a sting operation by a Hindi news channel.

In what could be called a double whammy for the embattled the UDF candidate, former Telhaka editor Mathew Samuel released on Facebook a report by former Kozhikode collector N. Prasanth.

UDF camp is in a dilemma over the moral question of standing four square behind MK Raghavan.

The TV channel crew had called on Raghavan posing as representatives of a Delhi-based consultant company for a Singapore-based hotel group looking for a 15 acre plot for setting up a hotel.

They offered 5 crore to settle issues that might arise during the purchase of the land.  In the following conversation, Raghavan mouthed off on the expenditure incurring in elections.

The congress is on the defense after he revealed the share of money that the party would allot.

Earlier, when M K Raghavan locked horns with collector N. Prasanth, LDF government stood by him on the grounds of his being a civic representative.

M K Raghavan came to blows with the collector over the use of MP fund. Mathew Samuel on Facebook said that the Kozhikode MP sought 10 per cent commission for utilisation of fund.

Mathew Sumuel supporting his claims released a report by N Prasanth submitted to the then chief secretary Vijayanand.

Meanwhile,M K Raghavan alleges that CPM was behind bringing in TV9 channel. But TV 9 that met 20 MPs including that of BJP has no nexus with CPM.
