No clean chit to Suresh Kallada: Kochi police

Kochi: Kochi: The special investigation team probing the Kallada bus case brought here on Sunday to collect evidence all seven accused in brutally assaulting three passengers.

The probe team collected evidence from the office of Kallada travels at vyttila and Vyttila junction where the incident had happened.

Thrikkakara assistant commissioner Stewart Keeler was heading the investigation team.

"The evidence collection is part of the primary round of investigation. The remaining accused, if any, will be traced and arrested in the coming days. More details cannot be divulged as the investigation is underway," he said.

“Victims had said in their statement that there were about 15 people in the group that attacked them. We are working hard to catch the remaining people”, he added.

He also indicated that police had not given a clean chit for Kallada travels owner Suresh Kallada. The cops had recorded his statement after summoning to the Assistant Commissioner Office, Thrikkakara.

“We are yet to find a direct involvement of Suresh in the incident, Investigation is under progress and we will ask Suresh to give statements again if needed.”

Police have doubts over direct involvements of Suesh Kallada in the incident. Police understood that he kept a close relation to some of those among accused by checking the messages of the mobile phones.

It is understood that the contradictions in the statement given by the seven accused is being a headache to the Police.

The three passengers of the Bangalore-bound inter-state bus from Thiruvananthapuram were beaten up for allegedly questioning the delay in arranging an alternate vehicle after it broke down near Karuvatta, Haripad.

When the bus reached Vyttila in Ernakulam early morning, the bus employees from its unit here barged in and started beating them up. The whole incident came to light after another passenger recorded it and shared on social media.
