Bogus voting: Kannur Collector confirms visuals as credible

Thiruvananthapuram: Just as the controversy roils over videos of bogus voting in Kannur, the District Collector reportedly submitted a report to the Chief Electoral Officer, corroborating that the footages were not fake.

The video footage showing six persons allegedly casting bogus votes at polling booth number 19 at Pilathara AUP School here caused uproar in both media and political circles, putting CPM on the defensive.

Following this, State Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena sought a report from the District Collector.

The Collector reportedly summoned polling officials at the concerned booth for details. It is learnt that the webcam operator confirmed that the videos were not fake.

Outmaneuvered unlike ever before, CPM quickly claimed that it was a case of open voting.

However, many out there didn’t buy this explanation as the visuals reportedly showed the indelible ink was not seen applied on their right hands as in the case of open voting.
